Hi everyone:
By now, you've already chosen a specific genetic disorder to research. I've prepared some links that will make your search for reliable, trustworthy online sources a whole lot easier.
One good source I've found is the Gale Science Resource Center. Click on the link, enter the name of the disorder in the search box, and then choose the result that comes from the Gale Encyclopedia of Genetic Disorders.
Another source that is pretty great is the National Human Genome Research Project's page about genetic disorders. Just scroll down the list, an click on the name of a disorder. If the disorder you're researching isn't on the list, use the search box at the top of the page.
A third source you might look at is the Genetics Home Reference site, by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (for this one you have to search alphabetically, or in the search box at the top of the page).
Notes for specific disorders:
(for syndromes that end with an 's, try searching without the 's)
PKU --Also try
Xeroderma pigmentosa--You may have to use the search boxes at the top of the Human Genome Research Project page, then click on the first link for the MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia.
Albinism--also try Oculocutaneous albinism
Dwarfism--the first article you see if you search for "dwarfism" in the Gale Science Resource Center provides an explanation of the several different disorders that can cause dwarfism.
Nieumann-Pick disease--spelled also as Niemann-Pick disease
Klienfelter’s syndrome--also spelled Klinefelter's syndrome
