Centennial High School Summer Reading Assignments

The English Department encourages and supports two summer reading programs for students at all grade levels.

Optional Summer Reading

The OPTIONAL program is for all students who are scheduled into a college preparatory level English class for the upcoming school year.

* Fulton County publishes a brochure of suggested summer reading titles. You can download it here: 2010 High School Summer Reading List
* There is a response form for upcoming 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders to fill out as they read. The form can be turned in to the English teacher in the fall for academic credit in the course.
* The form can be downloaded here: 9th and 10th Grade Summer Reading Response, 11th and 12th Grade Summer Reading Response

Mandatory Summer Reading

The second program is MANDATORY for all students scheduled into 9th, 10th or 11th Grade Honors, AP Language, or AP Literature.

Your summer reading books will be available for purchase through the CHS Media Center, you can buy them online or in local bookstores, or you can check them out of your local library.

* Each teacher will have assignments to accompany the reading. Download ALL assignments and Great Works Reader's Journals (if required) here.
